NACCAP Welcomes Andy Wright as
Director of Research & Data Analytics

The North American Coalition for Christian Admissions Professionals (NACCAP) is pleased to announce Andy Wright as its new Director of Research & Data Analytics. In this role, Wright will lead NACCAP’s efforts to collect, analyze and interpret data that informs strategic decisions and enhances programs and services for its members.

Andy Wright brings more than a decade of leadership experience across four university campuses and collaborations with strategic partners. His career has been dedicated to translating data into actionable insights that support institutional growth and innovation. Skilled in leveraging tools for visualization and reporting, conducting research studies and communicating results, Wright is well-positioned to advance NACCAP’s data-driven projects and membership initiatives.

“Christian education has profoundly shaped me—intellectually, morally and professionally,” said Wright. “As faith-based institutions navigate an increasingly complex environment, NACCAP stands out for its unique perspective and trusted leadership in the field. I am delighted to join a talented team that understands the present moment and is dedicated to equipping its members for a thriving future.”

As NACCAP’s Director of Research & Data Analytics, Wright will manage research initiatives, conduct statistical analyses and develop strategies that foster growth and innovation within Christian higher education. His work will support members by creating actionable insights to inform strategic planning and institutional development.

Wright holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Olivet Nazarene University and an executive leadership certificate from Cornell University. His professional background includes key leadership roles at Warner Pacific University, Concordia University-Portland and Eastern Nazarene College, where he consistently delivered results in enrollment growth, strategic planning and partnership development.

LDEP is designed for admissions professionals with at least two years experience. Past participants have included:

Tim Fuller Research Grant 

The North American Coalition for Christian Admissions Professionals (NACCAP) is honored to announce its research grant has been renamed the Tim Fuller Research Grant in memory of the late Tim Fuller, whose distinguished career as an enrollment leader left a legacy in Christian higher education.

Over the years, the NACCAP research grant has supported innovative research aimed at advancing enrollment practices within Christian higher education. In recognizing Tim Fuller's contributions, NACCAP seeks to honor his legacy, which was characterized by a commitment to excellence, leadership and the unwavering support of Christian higher education.

Past recipients of the research grant, including Dr. Phil Cook, Dr. Denise Cunningham and Dr. James Steen, used the scholarship to support the completion of their doctoral research. This year’s recipient is William Monts from Anderson University, South Carolina, whose research will continue the tradition of impactful work supported by this grant.

NACCAP President Dr. Phil Cook expressed his appreciation for Tim Fuller’s legacy, stating, “Tim Fuller was a guiding influence for many of us in the enrollment profession. His dedication to fostering a culture of thoughtful, data-driven decision-making transformed how we approach our work. Naming this grant in his honor is a fitting tribute to a man whose influence will be felt for generations to come.”

Tim Fuller’s career in enrollment management spanned decades, during which he mentored countless professionals, shaped enrollment strategies and tirelessly advocated for Christian higher education. His leadership roles at various institutions and his involvement with NACCAP made him a respected and beloved figure in the field. Though Tim Fuller passed away last year, his impact on Christian higher education endures.

The Chant Thompson Legacy Scholarship is named for Chant Thompson, former executive director of NACCAP. He spent his career advancing Christian education and continues to do so in retirement.

The scholarship is designed to encourage students to attend a Christian college or university as they prepare for their future career and calling.

Ron and Deb Moss Kingdom Builders Scholarship Recipients

The North American Coalition for Christian Admissions Professionals (NACCAP) is pleased to announce Mery Yohana Hernandez de Sauceda and Emma Williams as the first recipients of the Ron and Deb Moss Kingdom Builders Scholarship.

Mery Yohana Hernandez de Sauceda, from Tegucigalpa, Honduras, has dedicated 17 years to education and currently serves as the high school counselor at Academia Los Pinares.

Emma Williams recently completed her first year as the student life advisor at Loudonville Christian School in New York. She previously worked in admissions at a community college.

NACCAP president Phil Cook said, “NACCAP is thrilled to award our first recipients of the Ron and Deb Moss Kingdom Builders Scholarship. We can think of no better way to honor Ron’s service to Christian education than this award. His many years of guidance to students and families during the college choice process were extraordinary. This scholarship will allow his legacy to continue.”

The Ron and Deb Moss Kingdom Builders Scholarship aims to foster the professional development of NACCAP’s K-12 college counselors, specifically through the Counselor Certification Program. NACCAP offers a College Counselor Certification Program that integrates collaborative, experiential learning in a virtual setting. The program is designed for high school college/guidance professionals who desire to develop a Christian worldview of college and academic counseling, as well as practically apply their knowledge to their current role and/or school. The next cohort starts on Monday, June 10, 2024.

The Ron and Deb Moss Kingdom Builders Scholarship

The North American Coalition for Christian Admissions Professionals (NACCAP) is pleased to announce the launch of the Ron and Deb Moss Kingdom Builders Scholarship.

Dr. Ron Moss, a seasoned educational professional, has dedicated nearly five decades to college counseling, admissions, and enrollment management. Having worked at Texas Christian University, Rice University, and Southern Methodist University, Moss spent the last 12 years of his career as the director of guidance and college counseling at Prestonwood Christian Academy in Plano, Texas, before retiring in 2021. He previously served on NACCAP’s board of directors and received a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018. Moss was instrumental in the creation of NACCAP’s Counselor Certification Program, which provides training and certification in all aspects of college counseling and advising.

The Ron and Deb Moss Kingdom Builders Scholarship is designed to encourage professional development of NACCAP’s K-12 college counselors, specifically through the Counselor Certification Program.

“Deb and I are immensely humbled and blessed to be able to establish this fund focused on supporting NACCAP’s Counselor Certification Program,” Moss says. “The program serves as a means to be sure Kingdom Builders called to the secondary school mission field continue to be created to make Jesus shown and known. It is our particular hope this funding will remove financial barriers to the program through scholarship support.”

Dr. Phil Cook, president of NACCAP, states, “Dr. Ron Moss is the kind of servant leader we all should emulate. I cannot think of another person who has done more to build the Kingdom through Christian education than him. He is an exemplary leader, husband, father, and grandfather. NACCAP is forever grateful to Ron and Deb Moss for their gift to establish this scholarship, which will benefit college counselors for years to come.”

This mobile-friendly website is inspired by students working hard to follow their faith, further their education and find their future.

“With the launch of Find Your Christian College, NACCAP is expanding our efforts to promote Christian colleges and universities to high school students and their families,” stated Dr. Phil Cook, Executive Director of NACCAP. “We’re excited to connect these students to our member institutions who provide academic excellence at Christ-centered campuses throughout the United States and Canada.”

The four primary components of this new website include:

SNAC July 11 –14 Virtually

SNAC is specifically designed for new undergraduate admissions counselors with less than one year of experience in the field. The content of these sessions focuses on increasing self-awareness, professionalism and confidence all while learning best practices of admissions work like the changing funnel in higher education, maximizing travel season effectiveness, and how to best manage time while multitasking. New to Admissions?  Session for New Admissions Counselor (SNAC) is designed for staff who are new to admissions.  A new offering of our SNAC Conference will be held virtually January 24–27, 2022.

This four-day virtual session is geared towards those admissions counselors that are new (a year or less) to the profession. Session topics include: Admissions 101, Travel Tips, Personal Assessment, Communication and Presentations, and Interaction with Guidance Counselors.

The North American Coalition for Christian Admissions Professionals (NACCAP), represented by Executive Director Phil Cook, and NAGAP, the Association for Graduate Enrollment Management, represented by President Jeremiah Nelson, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) earlier this fall. The signing of the MOU is intended to express a common vision for the partnership, identify shared goals and objectives, implement action steps for working to meet these goals and objectives, and maintain communication that benefits both organizations and their members. 

Initial discussions between NACCAP and NAGAP have identified mutual interests in a number of key areas including, but not limited to, research and current information gathering; educational, networking, and professional development opportunities; collaboration and scholarship in graduate enrollment management; attendance and joint presentations at each organization's annual conference(s); and discounted memberships. 

"We are thrilled to partner with such an outstanding organization as NAGAP," said Cook. "Their expertise in graduate enrollment management will provide additional resources, data and professional development to the NACCAP membership." Keith Ramsdell, Chair of NAGAP's External Relations and Partnerships Committee stated, "We're very excited to formalize this partnership with NACCAP. We look forward to exploring ways in which we can collaborate to meet the needs of both organizations' members."

The NACCAP Servant Leadership Award is a new award created to honor an individual based on that person's leadership and service beyond their current institution / role.

Here are a few things that have been said about Chant as the inaugural recipient of this award: "He is always looking to bless others. In our travels, you can always see him interacting with everyone around him and while he looks for opportunities to bring joy in some way to them. It can be through gifts, a kind word or at times he goes out of his way to achieve something special for someone else. I really appreciate how much time and attention he puts into serving others." "He daily models an incredible gift of making each person feel genuinely and sincerely needed and valued - it's humbling and honoring."

Ryan shared that he personally had the privilege of regularly connecting with Chant in his role on the board. In a recent phone call, Ryan asked him what he had been up to that weekend. Chant shared that he had been out on his property making walking paths for his wife, Marcia. "The phrase "path maker" immediately came to mind as such a great way to capture the way in which he exemplifies a servant leader," said Spear.

Spear also noted "Whether he's making paths for students to experience Christ-centered education at every level, creating pathways to professional development within NACCAP, coordinating and leading an overseas service trip, dropping of that week's "THE Guide" mailing at the post office personally, or engaging in his community, Chant is always finding ways to enhance and bless those around him and making paths for others to experience God's love and presence."

Please join us in honoring Chant Thompson as the recipient of the 2021 NACCAP Servant Leadership Award. Not only is Chant the inaugural recipient of this award, it will henceforth carry his name as the Chant Thompson Servant Leadership Award.

Congratulations to our Executive Director Chant Thompson for receiving the Champion of Higher Education Award from the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities in San Diego.

The Champion of Higher Education Award is presented to individuals who have demonstrated strategic vision and unparalleled dedication to the field of higher education.

Jennifer brings a wealth of experience and new perspective to NACCAP’s ever-expanding reach and engagement in the educational landscape. Jennifer’s past involvement with NACCAP at our annual conferences and with the development of a number of our promotional efforts can only be enhanced with her full-time efforts as part of our administrative team,” said Chant Thompson, executive director. 

Jennifer and her husband, Ben, have two teenagers. Barscz replaces Andy Vaught, who now serves as the director of initiatives after nearly two years in the communications role.  Vaught replaces Nate Perry who returned to Huntington University after two years at NACCAP. 

“I’m extremely eager to move into my new role as director of initiatives. I look forward to learning more about the various aspects of membership engagement and spending time on the campuses of our member high schools, colleges and universities. We’re extremely grateful to have Jennifer on our team and we’re confident she will be an immediate value-added addition to our organization,” said Vaught.

“Andy brings great enthusiasm and vision to the director of strategic initiatives role. Membership engagement along with identifying the pressing needs that we face in the enrollment space will be his focus. It is our desire to continue to build strong collaborative relationships as we work together to collectively advance the cause of Christian education,” added Thompson.

NACCAP celebrated the retirement of Marcia Thompson in August. Thompson wore many hats and served in many capacities over the decades, but most notably was the managing editor of THE Guide to Christian Colleges & Universities and NACCAP’s other publications. Thompson is excited to gain some free time to dedicate to her local ministries, church community and long distance family.
